Authors: Matthieu Marechal, Michiel Hermes and Marjolein Dijkstra Title: Stacking in sediments of colloidal hard spheres Journal: The journal of chemical physics` DEPOSIT INFORMATION: Total No. of files including this one: 2 File name and type: sedi.avi: avi movie container (uses mpeg encoding) This movie file was converted from two series of snapshots made with a visualization program developed in our group. The first series, displayed on the left in the movie, shows the bottom section of the simulation box as seen from the side (the whole simulation box is prohibitively large for this initial volume fraction). The second series (on the right in the movie) displays (a top view) of the fourth layer, counted from the bottom. The colors of the particles are the same as in Figs. 1 and 3 of the paper: white: disordered/fluid, light green: fcc, blue: hcp, red: slanted stacking fault, dark green: (100) oriented fcc and gray: ordered and not recognized as any of the above. The parameters for this simulation were initial volume fraction: 0.0105 Peclet number: 1.015 number of particles: 400 000 dimensionless particle flux: 0.104 lateral dimensions: 50 diameters by 50 diameters Note, that no (100) oriented fcc crystal appears in this simulation due to chance (unlike in Figs. 1 and 3, which display snapshots of a different run with the same parameters).
