INSTITUT D'ETUDES SCIENTIFIQUES DE CARGèSE

Molecular Architecture, Dynamics and Function of Biomembranes

Joint FEBS – EMBO Advanced Lecture Course

June 12 – 21, 2017, Cargèse, Corsica, France

CARGESE is a little village, 50 km. north of Ajaccio. Flights at reduced rates (Pex, charters, camping flights) to Ajaccio are available: please check with your local travel agent. Transport by bus from and to the Ajaccio airport will be organized and info on that will be made available to the selected participants. All participants are expected to arrive in Cargèse on Monday June 12 and leave on Thursday June 22. Any extensions of your stay have to be arranged personally.

The course will be held in the Institut d'Etudes Scientifiques de Cargèse, an Institute specially constructed for this type of meetings. It is located close to the beach at walking distance from the village of Cargèse (20 min. via the main road, 15 min. via a 'goat path', (bring good shoes)). Lunch for all participants will be served at the Institute.

HOUSING
Housing for the duration of the course only, will be arranged by the staff of the Institute following, as much as possible, your preferences. There are various possibilities:
  • shared rooms in the institute or in the village, approximately € 300 per person for the duration of the course, this is included in the course fee. Single rooms will cost € 125 extra!
  • In case you want to bring you family there are apartments available. However, the total number of accompanying persons cannot exceed 10% of the total number of participants (so ~ 8 maximal in total). Hence this will be on a first come first serve basis and you’ll have to contact the organizer about this. The costs for this will be about € 50-90 per day depending on number of persons, location, and if meals are to be included. You have to pay for the accompanying persons yourself.
  • If you prefer a hotel in the village , this has to be arranged personally. You will get maximally a 300€ refund from the course fee if you wish to stay in a hotel. As you won’t be able to find a hotel for under 30 € per night, this option will be far more costly. AirBnB may be an option, but we do not have any info on this. PARTICIPANTS ACCOMMODATED IN A HOTEL MUST PAY THE HOTEL MANAGER DIRECTLY THEMSELVES.
FINANCES
Participants are expected to cover their own travel. Upon acceptance a fee of € 725 will be asked to cover registration, meals during the course, refreshments, as well as accommodation in a shared room in the Institute or in the village. For accommodation in a single room add another € 125 to this fee.
