Biography:
I obtained my Master’s degree in biology at the Helsinki University, Finland, 2000 majoring in animal behaviour and population ecology. I started my PhD in April 2002 in Utrecht on chimpanzee conflict management. I am interested in conflict management as an implication of social intelligence. I investigate how chimpanzees employ their knowledge on relationships in their decision making in the aftermath of conflicts. The observational work is conducted in the
Burgers’ Zoo in Arnhem.

PhD Thesis: Chimpanzees, conflicts, and cognition. Functions and mechanisms of chimpanzee conflict resolution. Utrecht, 2007.
