Title: Clean time crystal in periodically driven cold atomic systems

Abstract: Quantum time crystal has been an intriguing many-body state that has received much attention and debate since its early prediction. Recent studies, both theoretical and experimental, point to that such a phase may actually emerge in systems away from equilibrium under periodic driving. Nevertheless, the role of disorder remains an open question. In this talk, I will report our finding of a series of models showing that time crystals can generally exist without disorder and is not in a pre-thermal state. This realizes what we referred to as “clean Floquet time crystal.” Cold atom experimental schemes will be proposed.

Lecture Course Lorentz Professor 2017
This year the Lorentz Professorship will be held by Prof. Renata Kallosh (Stanford)
She will be joined by Prof. Andrei Linde (Stanford) to give a series of lectures on inflationary cosmology from the Big Bang to what we see in the universe today.

Dear colleague,
With great pride I would like to announce that Albert Heck and Alexander van Oudenaarden are both Spinoza Laureates 2017. This calls for a joint celebration of this unique success. Please see the invitation for more information about the Spinoza Laureates and the celebration.
