DRSTP PhD Day
For all theoretical physicists that are young at heart!
The DRSTP PhD Student Council is organizing a meeting focused on the younger researchers in the Research School. On this 10th edition of the PhD Day you will hear inspiring talks from PhD students in several areas of theoretical physics and beyond. Just like previous editions, the PhD Day is also the right moment to meet old friends and make new ones, to share the joys and pains of being a scientist. Also for Master's students the PhD Day is a great opportunity to meet PhD students from all over the Netherlands and find out about research at other universities.

Kramers Course
Time & Place: 09h00-13h00 in BBG 7.12
From 13 September 2017 until 21 Februari 2018
The "Kramers course: Field-theory methods in statistical physics" will start on Wednesday, September 13th.
The lectures will be based on Mussardo's book "Statistical Field Theory", of which we have a copy in the library of the ITP. Note that even though the title is identical to our obligatory course, the topics are actually quite different, covering in particular conformal field theory and integrable systems.
The first lecture on September 13th will be given by Tatjana Puskarov. From November 1st the lectures will be given by the Kramers professor Giuseppe Mussardo (SISSA, Trieste).
The lectures and exercise classes take place every Wednesday, 9am to 11am, and 11am to 1pm, respectively. Both will be held in BBG 7.12

Dear colleagues,
On Thu 2 and Fri 3 November 2017 a Delta ITP retreat is scheduled at Kasteel Woerden (Woerden Castle). The schedule will start on Thursday afternoon and will feature a joint dinner at the site, and end on Friday afternoon. To spend the night in Woerden, which is highly recommended, rooms have been blocked in nearby hotels for your convience.
As strongly suggested by the midterm review we intend this Delta ITP retreat to be informative, stimulating, festive and further supporting and strengthening the Delta ITP community. We aim to provide a diverse program of interest to all Delta ITP members, as well as our (industrial) partners. This includes scientific talks in the spirit of the triangle meetings, more educational and interactive sessions, strategic discussions on the future of Delta ITP, as well as some keynote lectures.
We would like to ask all Delta ITP members to make a strong effort to join us on 2 and 3 November 2017. Please register using the link on our website. More information will become available in due time.
Kind regards, Jan Pieter van der Schaar

* Delta ITP will bear all costs for the full retreat, as well as the overnight accommodation. For all staff on Delta ITP budget this might result in a small decrease in their overall (travel) budgets.
