Mark Kac The Mark Kac Seminar is an activity of the STARstochastics cluster, and it is financially supported by Stichting FOM. This season's Mark Kac seminars will be held on the following Fridays: April 13, 2012 May 11, 2012 June 1, 2012 Speakers, titles, abstracts and locations will be published on our website as they become known, and announced by e-mail one week ahead of each seminar. Our main speaker this season is Anton Bovier, who will give a series of three lectures in March, April and May. The Lorentz Center@Snellius
The Lorentz Center expands its activities with a new, smaller facility dedicated to workshops for up to 25 participants: the Lorentz Center@Snellius. Activities in the new facility will begin in July 2012. Proposals for all Lorentz Center workshops may be submitted with the first coming submission deadline: 15 May 2012 for activities taking place before September 2013. The official opening of the Lorentz Center@Snellius will be on 4 October 2012. For questions or feedback on workshop ideas: Dr. Henriette Jensenius (Science planning and Evaluation), jensenius@lorentzcenter.nl Theoretical Cosmology Meetings To actively encourage the field of Theoretical Cosmology in the Netherlands and to set an informal stage for the exchange of ideas, the small but growing Dutch Theoretical Cosmology community organizes Friday afternoon meetings approximately 6 times a year - usually on the first Friday of the month. The meetings start in the afternoon with a main speaker, followed by a short break to continue with a journal club discussion on some topic of current interest. We end the afternoon with drinks. The supporting institutes, Leiden, Amsterdam and Utrecht, each take turns in hosting the event. |
